Future Sense is a collaboration between Yangon-based Proximity Designs and Ideo.org to build new products that help smallholder farmers better understand their crops. Elaine joined a research team to help deploy a series of prototypes including the Betel Meter, a sensor prototype that helped betel nut farmers ascertain moisture levels in their crops.

The research team in the 2nd phase, traveled to Shwe Bo, a small northern town, to install several Beter Meters in the vicinity of farmers' crop, where the devices can track water usage over time.
Back in the head office, I organized two classes on smart technology, teaching fellow coworkers how to program sensors and simple electronics and rapidly prototype their own interactive devices.
